WELSH NATIONAL SQUADS

Street Football Wales select and manage the female and male international street football squads called 'The Welsh Warriors‘ & 'The Welsh Dragons'.

The international squads aim to use the positive power of football to raise the profile of social exclusion and homelessness on a global stage and challenge the perceptions of people caught in social exclusion.

Since our involvement in the inaugural Homeless World Cup (2003), Street Football Wales has fully believed in the ethos that players should not just be selected with a view to winning but players that are eligible can be moulded into a team with potential of winning being the priority.

Players are only selected if they meet the eligibility criteria and display good attitude; attendance, commitment, the benefit to life, effort, ability to be a team player, tolerance of others and progress of personal development both on and off the pitch. All these criteria score as highly as their football ability.

We aim to create a spark in someone that will return from international competitions wanting to move on and improve their situation.
